CNN —The Arizona House of Representatives voted Wednesday to overturn the state’s 160-year-old abortion ban, setting the stage for a repeal that would leave the state’s 15-week restriction on the procedure in place. The vote comes after two failed attempts by state House lawmakers to bring the bill to the floor last week. If it succeeds, Arizona’s 15-week restriction on abortions will continue to be state law. That legislation stated explicitly that it did not overrule the 1864 law. Arizona state Rep. Stephanie Stahl Hamilton, left, hugs Arizona state Sen. Former President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson pitched new legislation to crack down on noncitizen voting on Friday, despite the fact the practice is already illegal and occurs rarely. It is already a crime to register or vote as a noncitizen in all state and federal elections, though Washington, D.C., and a handful of municipalities in California, Maryland and Vermont allow noncitizen voting in local elections. Many have investigated noncitizen voting and found little evidence of it. The Brennan Center found just 30 suspected noncitizen votes amid 23.5 million votes in 2016, suggesting that suspected noncitizen votes accounted for 0.0001 % of votes cast. But Johnson and Trump have both long advanced baseless claims about election integrity.

Nvidia and the Georgia Institute of Technology announced Wednesday the first artificial intelligence supercomputer designed for student use. At first, only Georgia Tech's undergraduate students will be able to use the computing cluster, which is fueled by Nvidia's enterprise AI software and a "virtual gateway" developed by Penguin Solutions. So far, students have used the supercomputer in just one class — foundations of machine learning — since the beginning of the semester, but Georgia Tech plans to continue scaling usage. Georgia Tech's supercomputer runs on 20 Nvidia HGX H100 systems, which house 160 of Nvidia's H100 GPUs, which are high in demand across the tech industry. For reference, it would take one of these 160 GPUs a single second to come up with a multiplication function that would take 50,000 students 22 years, according to a Georgia Tech release.

Landfills are a large driver of the climate crisis due to their high methane leaks. A recent study found methane emissions from landfills were 40% higher than reported. Advanced methods like remote sensing can help detect and fix landfill methane leaks faster. Methane leaks from landfills were, on average, 40% higher than what's been reported to the federal government, according to a study published in the journal Science.
